Even though I'm pretty confident there is no actual air infiltration, we experienced an uncomfortable cold downdraft from the skylight tunnels in our kitchen and family room. I think it was just air being cooled up by the skylight and then rotating down into the room. I installed the inserts into the tunnels 12 inches below the skylights; I thought I might have to install some sort of support to keep them up, but they seem quite secure with just friction fit. The result is terrific, the downdraft has been reduced to almost nothing.

I have had the window inserts for over five years, they have added to my older homes comfort, took them out this past fall to clean them and reinstalled. The ordering process is simple and deliver was as promised. I would highly recommend them if you want a cost effective alternative to replacing your windows. Scale of 1/10 I would give them a 10.

I wanted to take a minute to let you know our order came today and I had the three windows installed in 20 minutes, including the one (2) piece unit. This time included removing the mini blinds and repositioning them after the window installation.

Your windows are awesome. They are made well, to my exact measurements, and as a result fit perfectly. Since COVID we have been generally unhappy with the work/products we have received anytime we have made home repairs. This includes the new Andersen windows that your inserts are no insulating properly as the windows themselves are very poorly made. It's nice to know that there are still people who take pride in their products and deliver on their promises!

Thank you for this great product! I have the inserts in all my windows and have noticed that the heater kicks on half as much as it did before. It seems quieter and much cozier! Very pleased with this investment.

I bought approximately 22 insulators from Eric in 2019 for our home built in 1986 that has an oil burner for the radiators. Single pane, double hung windows that were so breezy you'd think the window was slightly open when it wasn't!!
After speaking with Eric on numerous occasions, I felt comfortable enough to place my order.
I am Grateful to Eric that I did!! They paid for themselves in the first year!! I saw the old old bills and almost fell over wondering "How are we going to afford this?" Window Inserts.
I leave them in all year. We keep the heat at 71 and the a/c at 75! Our home is 4,200 sf and have not gone over $250 - $300 for heat/electricity in the five (5) years since I purchased them!!

My home is a 1950s era home with original steel casement windows set in exterior brick with extruded mortar. The use of exterior storm windows would require chipping mortar to get a fit.

I found Window Inserts when looking for solutions to improve the efficiency of the windows. After speaking with Eric and another vendor, I opted for Window Inserts based upon the flexibility of white and brown inserts. The windows arrived in November. The inserts were not difficult to install as I had already removed several blinds and/or shades.

Due to the type of windows and age, the openings were each a little different in size. I needed to have three sections for the windows. This has not been an issue in looks or installation. I did discover that the window trim in the upstairs bedrooms decreased the height of the window. One window would not fit. However, Eric has been great to work with regarding getting the issue resolved.

I am waiting for a few cold nights -mid to low 20s to test my bedroom window. The inserts appear to be effective in maintaining the overall temperature in the house.

Received my windows yesterday. They look beautiful. They were very easy to install. Packaging was great and shipment was quick. Will update this review at a later time after evaluating effectiveness of temperature control.

I waited a year to post this review so we could go through all 4 seasons. I originally thought we would take them down in summer, but we ended up keeping them in almost all of the windows because it helped with the dust. We purchased them for every window in our large circa 1799 Vermont farmhouse. I was so tired of the messy tape and the window cling that would fall down almost as soon as I put it up. I still have sticky residue on the molding that seems like nothing will take off. I wish we would have gotten these sooner. Best purchase we could have made. Our heating costs have gone way down since installing them. The house just feels warmer no matter the outside temp and we are burning less oil and less wood to keep it that way. Our very old windows are so drafty. It's probably a sacrilege to replace them, but it's also out of the budget since we were quoted more than 6 figures for new windows. If you put your hand on the glass, they feel like ice. Now if we put our hand on the insert it feels almost like room temperature. I also like that for our windows I can decide how much of a space I want between the glass and the insert because I do think that having a little bit of space is more effective. We have a lot of windows, so this was an expense, but one that paid for itself right away in comfort and lower energy costs. When people visit, they don't even know they are there. They look almost invisible once installed which is very easy. We recommend these to all our friends and family. I wouldn't hesitate to give these a try.

Great product. Well worth the money. I am thoroughly pleased with the window insert. Easy to install, looks great and does the job. Noticed the difference immediately after install. I would recommend this product to anyone trying to saving money on heating cost. I purchased 6 for a trial and boy was I surprised. I am going to going to purchase more.

I never write reviews but had to let you know how happy I am with this product. I recently ordered 14 inserts in all different sizes including one 3-panel and one 2-panel for larger windows. They arrived well packed in about 3 weeks. It took about 1.5 hours to install all 14 throughout the house but that is because I was messing around with curtains and cleaning some of the windows. They slide right in yet fit like a glove. I chose the 14 worst windows first to see how I like them. Well, I love them and will be ordering more soon. Instantly felt less drafty and more comfortable in my older northeast home. Therefore I can only imagine the savings I will see this winter. I plan to leave certain ones in during hotter weather to see if I can save on A/C as well. I'm sure I will. I am very happy with the quality.

I just wanted to follow up with you regarding our purchase of six inserts a year ago for our screened porch. What an awesome, affordable product you make. The inserts are easy to install and make a significant difference by keeping the wind and snow outside. We were immediately pleased but wondered how the inserts might hold up. They look like they did when they first arrived. And, bonus points, the box they were shipped in make an excellent storage container for off-season. Wish we could go back to our initial review and update with more glowing words. We recommend these inserts to folks on a regular basis.

Our Georgia house faces near due west, so the front windows receive the harsh afternoon sun for several hours. Plus, the windows themselves are aluminum, single pane glass and drafty in all seasons. We had been pricing new windows, which are pretty expensive these days. I stumbled over Window Inserts and decided to give them a try for a lower cost, comfortable, energy saving solution. The material looks like it will last for a long time, they are removable, and the installation was very, very easy. We were so pleased with the first inserts, we decided to "triple" pane the front windows and add two more Southwest facing bedroom windows. I bought inserts for eight large panel screens for our three season porch. They had to make them in two pieces per panel due to the large sizes. They came very well packaged and I'll save the box they came in for storage when we take them out. They fit perfectly snug and will keep the snow, rain and dust out. Very nice product, and a great price.

AMAZING PRODUCT, AMAZING COMPANY

I have a room in my rental property with no heat, 3 windows and a balcony door, the temperature was equivalent to being outside. This room has been unlivable for the 15 years that I have owned this house until Window Inserts. These inserts are more effective than I could have ever imagined at keeping the cold outside where it belongs. If you are dealing with super drafty windows, I promise you, you have found your solution. This is a stellar product and hands down the best customer experience I have had in ages. When I found Window Inserts (WI), I had already been in communication with Indow for months but was hesitant to commit because I was unhappy with the customer service as well as the expense. WI charged a fraction of what Indow charged which made me skeptical as to the quality of their products and set my expectations low. To say that they were exceeded is an understatement.

The quality of their customer service is a dying trend in American consumerism that should not be taken for granted. A representative of their company called me to go over my order once placed. Not knowing I already looked into the competition, he made it clear that if I sought certain features Indow would be a “better fit,” pardon the pun! Luckily I did not, I was only interested in thermal insulation which is WI’s specialty. I should note that despite numerous conversations over months, Indow did not afford me the same consideration of alerting me that there was a better and significantly more affordable option for this issue. To be fair, few companies would have and this is what sets WI apart. WI cares enough about their customer’s experience to set them on the right path to the best solution. They have confidence in their products and take tremendous pride in its purpose of helping households nationwide. While I was thrilled with my purchase, one of my windows was incredibly crooked so the insert sent did not work. Though WI was not at all responsible they worked with me to create a perfect new insert and provided it heavily discounted. They are truly dedicated to seeing you through to your solution.

Besides the outstanding customer service, their product is AMAZING. It feels like magic! The temperature has improved so significantly that it isn’t even necessary to run a space heater at all times in the winter! I truly never thought I would see the day!!! To say that this was worth the investment and risk of trying would be another understatement. My mind is blown and I am so grateful to this company for everything!

I ordered these for my home which has been in our family since it was built in 1968. The windows are original and they are aluminum. At this point in time replacing them would be a real hassle and my mother likes the way the house looks as is. I ordered 12 inserts and even have them on basement windows. I am so happy with them.

I'm really glad I found these windows. I use them as standalone windows on a screened porch, a little different than they were designed. They work great. They have held up to the elements year after year, including in Midwestern winters, I was able to custom order them for size and they're so much easier to handle than glass windows. At the same time, the materials are of high quality and they have never looked cheap or plasticky. Plus they were hundreds if not thousands of dollars less than comparable window options. I've had compliments from friends and even contractors who have seen them and wanted to know what I used.

They've been in about three weeks or so and here's my "evaluation"

First, a couple of comments.

I've been looking at this type of storm window for our 1886 historic home in Wake Forest NC. The original windows are still in pretty good shape and are an architectural element that we would never replace with "new" windows. Replacing the windows with something new and more efficient, if done properly, would "ruin" the originality and the cost would exceed the higher electric and gas bills caused by a drafty home.
Also it's worth mentioning that I am a very experienced contractor, and do 90% of the work on my home.

My windows are surprisingly "square" and consistent in size with a reasonable amount of variance.

Installation of the insert windows was quick and easy, without need for any instructions, because of the height of our ceilings, and windows I opted for a two piece window insert.
During the winter months and certainly on windy days, or old house is drafty and when the temps drop below freezing, the house has been "chilly" and somewhat uncomfortable.
After installing the window inserts the rooms instantly felt better, less drafty- friends and our house cleaner mentioned it before we told them we had installed these windows.
It's noticeable. I can't say if it will "pay for itself" but even if it's a few hundred dollars a year they're worth it.

If anyone is ever in doubt about how they look, how easy they are to pop in, or if the are, in fact and improvement, have them call me.

Just letting you know that so far this winter we're saving about $100/month on our gas bill from the same months a year ago (December, January - haven't gotten February bill yet). My husband was a naysayer - not any more!

We have a new home in the CO mountains (you know where we are) at 8600 feet that we leave in the winter months, setting the thermostat on 55 when we leave, so the conditions are the same without much usage variance. In fact, the weather app tells me that on average our temps are 2 degrees warmer this year than last.... Amazing that even on a new build, with double pane, high altitude windows we had so much heat loss.

So - thank you for what you do!

We received our window inserts today. The packaging was perfect. The inserts were numbered correctly. The first one was installed in a matter of seconds and the others immediately after. We ordered enough for our bedroom and bathroom. I look forward to seeing if they help with the drafts. So far the measuring, ordering, and installation has gone well.

I bought them for my 1940 Craftsman with it's original windows. I can't replace the windows due to required specs for being in a historically designated neighborhood are too cost prohibitive. The original single panes are in ok shape but they still leak. So I figured what the heck, I caught a good sale price and bought enough for every window. The process was easy and their customer service was fantastic. We talked about the type of insert I was ordering and the problems I was trying to fix.

One thing to remember, if you have blinds or shades in your windows, the inserts will have to go behind the shade or blind. So when you take your measurement you have to measure in the space behind the blinds are shades. In my case I didn't have enough space to make sure there was a one inch barrier between the window pane and the insert and still have the blind inside the frame. So, I chose to remove the blinds and replace them with curtains.

Just wanted to follow up on your outstanding window inserts.
We weren't worried about noise abatement, but it does cut it down some.
The drafts coming in our old windows are gone, which has helped cut back on the dust inside. What we were most interested in was the “R” value of our windows and that has improved dramatically.

Our monthly electric bill is down roughly a third of what it was, on average, and even more during the extreme temp periods of Dec. Jan. and July Aug.
Also very easy to remove when we want to open a window and goes right back in when we want them reinstalled.
